DOA takes place in Germany

Character: Hitomi

At first, there is Hitomi. She is the daughter of a German karate master and his Japanese wife. They are running a karate dojo in Germany but sadly, Hitomi's father became sick and she needs to win the price money to save the dojo. Her karate belt reveals the German and also the Japanese flag.

Stage: Demon Church “DoA2” / “DoA2 Ultimate

This mysterious church is somewhere in Germany. Every fight starts in the clock tower. There you have a very good view of a beautiful city. It could be many places in Germany. If we take a look into the Story of DOA2, we can assume, that it is inspired by the city “Freiburg an der Breisgau”. I will explain later. The first appearance of “Clone Kasumi” or “Alpha” takes place in that church. It is known, that DOATEC does experiments with the ninjas.

Stage: DOATEC Germany “DoA2” / “DoA2 Ultimate

It is a bio-lab that contains many dangerzones. Scientists try to create a mega-weapon using the supernatural ninja-power of Kasumi. There are tubes filled with green liquid and naked bodies of cloned Kasumis.

Character: Ein / “Hayate”

Since DOATEC abused Kasumi for their evil plans, they also kidnapped Hayate (Kasumi's brother) to learn more about his powers mainly to create a "perfect soldier". Maybe “Ein” stands for “First Creation” or “number 1”. If you count “one, two, three” in Germany, it could mean “One” for “Eins”.

Location: Schwarzwald (DOA2)

After Hayate was used by DOATEC under the project name “EPSILON”, he was found by Hitomi in the “Schwarzwald” forest. (Schwarzwald would mean “black forest”, if you direct translate it.)

He couldn't remember his real name after all these experiments. He just remembered to be called “Ein”, so he kept on using that name, until his mind came back. From this day on, he left Hitomi and Germany to return to his village.

The Schwarzwald is the connection to “Freiburg an der Breisgau” and the “Demon Church”/”Bio Lab Germany”).

Stage: Lorelei (DOA3 / DOA5)

Another residence of Helena can be found in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. The Lorelei, where she spend some of her time in one of the big castles that are famous for this region. There are fairytales about witches and mermaids. A good place to get a free mind.

Outfits of Hitomi:

Some of the outfits (a soccer outfit especially) suggest, that her last name is “Buchfink”. The “Buchfink” is one of the most occurring bird in Germany.

We also have her “Dirndl Outfit”. In DoA4, Hitomi wears some variations of the German Dirndls and also in DoA5, she got featured with these kind of traditional outfits. This dress was invented in Germany around 1870.

Since Hitomi is a strong hard punching girl, the demand for a military uniform is really high. Fans made lot's of comments on Twitter and Facebook about it, also some outfits for the Halloween Designer Challenge were made by the fans. Due the history of Germany, she won't get one anytime soon.
